I don't have any useful topical comment but I just wanted to mention how much I appreciate this blog. Though I have only a basic college understanding of economics, I read about 7 of these blogs a day. It's easy to identify the agendas in 5 of them and all are pretty heavy going for my level of understanding. Yours on the other hand is exceptionally well presented and understandable and your biases are identified. Thank you very much for your efforts here.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('258','Dennis','I don't have any useful topical comment but I just wanted to mention how much I appreciate this blog.
Keith - I'd be interested in your views of the Ryan budget, particularly the 5 year freeze on disretionary spending. It doesn't seem realistic. Additionally, can you compare historical and projected tax burdens by major income brackets.

Thanks for the great work.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('257','AJ Colyer','Keith - I'd be interested in your views of the Ryan budget, particularly the 5 year freeze on disretionary spending.
But isn't that the whole point of this administration and Congress, Patrick? They seek to create an America that no longer resembles the one we have known. They seek a nation that looks a lot more like Germany, France, or Sweden.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('255','John Samples','But isn't that the whole point of this administration and Congress, Patrick?
Great graphs, thanks. I've been beating this same drum (without the graphs) for years. It's remarkable that with top marginal income tax rates ranging from over 90% down to 28%, the revenues to the Federal govt is so steady.

To me the handwriting on the wall is that, those who think that the Federal govt is going to be able to raise its spending to 25% to 30% of GDP are dreaming. Unless they want a country that no longer resembles America as we've known it.
<a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('256','Patrick R.
